12 oz Food Flask is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ice cream still frozen after 3 hrs I bought this at the LA Rock 'n Roll half marathon health fair last weekend. I was told the container would keep ice cream frozen for 4 hrs...skeptically I asked 'Cold or Frozen' Was told frozen, so tested it out on a warm southern California day. my ice cream was still pretty frozen after 3 hrs...not frozen like when it was placed in the container but still solid enough that it wasn't like yogurt. You guys make OUTSTANDING products

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tested At the time of my purchase Hydro Flask did not have any guide on how long the food thermos would keep liquids hot; so I did a quick test to help ya out if your wonder'n the same thing. I preheated the thermos with hot tap water, then added water from the tea pot. The water once in the thermos measured 200 deg F. I left the thermos out side in the 32 deg. temperature for the day. After 4 hours the temp. of the water was 145 deg. F After 5 hours the temp. of the water was 135 deg. F After 6 hours the temp of the water was 128 deg F. I gave this product a 4 star rating vs a 5 star because I think the lid could be improved on. I was hoping the inside of the lid would be metal, but it is plastic. I noticed that the lid was warmer than the rest of the flask which indicates to me that most of the heat is lost through the lid. I'll be stoked to have hot soup for lunch on the ski hill, and the large open top will make clean up so much nicer than tiring to clean soup out of the regular flasks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality, but I miss the classic design We are avid fans of your products as we've been using them exclusively for our hydration needs for the past few years. The 12oz flask is of great quality, but I have been really disappointed that you switched to an all stainless curved design as opposed to the classic design which stayed true to your bottle design. I had to search high an low to find one of the classic's as the new design is just a bit blah. Sure it's beautiful stainless, but the matte textures and finishes are what make your product look so cool along with being exceptional quality and perfect for our needs.

My husband is the sanitary director at Johnson Wales University here in Charlotte, NC,wary of sending hot food in a thermos for our 5 yo. Can you confirm this will meet his standards in proper temp when ready to serve? Laura

Asked by: GrnGoddess
Being a JWU Alum BS '04 , I'm going to assume that your husband is concerned about HACCP protocols.  I would venture to say that if the food flask holds as well as the beverage containers, placing food in at a temperature outside of the "hazard zone", namely near boiling, and you utilize boiling water to preheat the container(to reduce thermal exchange) it should be safe.  Buy the product and test it with a cheap can of soup and temp it before and after 4 hours.  Hydroflask makes a phenomenal product, I would trust them.

I bought the 18 oz food flask at EMS.  I put boiling water in and sent hot food at 7 am to my daughter for her lunch at 12:30.  she said it was barely hot and almost cold.  :(  it didn't fill the flask up - could that be why it got cold?  HELP.  :(

I just bought two of these for my kids.  When I peeled the bar code sticker off the bottom of both of them a metal disk fell off...is that supposed to happen?

Asked by: jrfuller
Thanks for your question. The silver disc on the bottom of your Stainless flask is merely a sticker covering a weld point. The powder coated flasks are covered up by the paint, however the stainless ones have a sticker to cover it. It is purely cosmetic and not functional in anyway to the insulation. We can send you a replacement sticker if you'd like one. Reply at info@hydroflask.com with your address and we will get a sticker sent out!

How long does it keep food hot?

Asked by: Jill
Hi, Jill - We have not gotten our testing information back yet, so unfortunately we don't have specific numbers at this time. We will add that information to our product page for the Food Flasks as soon as we have it. We do know that the new design insulates significantly longer than our former Food Flask design. We apologize that we don't have more specific data at this time.

Two questions: In my experience, home made soup in contact with the inside stainless steel will cause most soups to alter the soup's original flavor. Your response please. Also, my not also produce a flat product for hot food with 3 compartments.

Asked by: Italianlaw
Hi, there - Our 18/8 pro grade stainless steel will not change the taste of your soup or retain any flavors after you finish and give it a quick rinse!
