Let's Go
In October of 2020, Cal-Wood Education Center lost half of their property to wildfire. Nearly 600 acres of Ponderosa Pines burned, but Cal Wood’s incredible staff turned their devastating loss into a learning opportunity for kids.
Since 1982, kids have gotten lost in the woods here and found a connection with nature. We experienced the magic of Cal-Wood first hand alongside a group of eager Boulder fifth graders. Cal-Wood’s school programs allow students, regardless of income or background, the chance to find their place in nature. Kids come to learn about fire ecology and climate change. But they leave with greater confidence in the outdoors and deeper ties to the mountains and each other.
We were so inspired by Cal-Wood’s work, we awarded them with a grant through our Parks for All program. It’s just part of the $3.1 million we’ve awarded so far.

Episode 10: Ready and Able
ADAPTIVE SPORTS CENTER
When faced with a physical disability, possibilities can feel limited and life becomes confined. Adaptive Sports Center(Opens in a new window)(Opens in a new window) opens the door to outdoor adventuring, giving participants self-confidence, optimism and independence that translate to every part of their daily lives.
In this episode, we join some amazing individuals at different stages in their journey with Adaptive Sports Center intensive programs. From a 79-year old adventurer learning to hike again to a biker who’s been shredding the trails for twenty years on his custom adaptive mountain bike, they show us what it means to reclaim freedom.
