Wide Mouth Straw Lid is rated 3.3696 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it for me. Not so much for the kids. Love our Hydro Flasks! The straw is convenient and well made...if you can resist the urge to bite the straw. Unfortunately my kids cannot. On the packaging it says "hard rubber to withstand bite marks" this is untrue. My 1 and 2 year olds have bitten through 2 apiece. The whole straw part should be made of the hard plastic only. I didn't want to spend another $15 on new ones so I just ripped off the offending rubber. Works the same!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Need to make replacement sip nipples / bite spouts I bought my 40 oz with the wide mouth straw lid. Twisting a lid/cap on and off is not very appealing. After about 4 months the bite spout was cracking like old dried out skin. It's not appealing to drink out of yet I make do. I find it rather odd that Hydro Flask would make "Color Bands" to express one's true personality and unique style for $5.99. Yet they don't make any replacement bite spouts. I'd welcome seeing a 4 pack of replacement bite spouts for $5.99 instead of the color bands. I feel it's such a "waste of resources" to have customers buy a complete "Wide Mouth Straw Lid" instead of just the bite spouts. Was this a "design obsolescence" intention?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Black spots/ Mold on straw after six months After using the straw for approximately six months, i am seeing mold grow on the tip of the straw. You can wipe it away but it just comes back the next day because its constantly wet. Not sure if warranty would cover it, but im assuming some sort of coating on the straw wore out which is why the mold is only showing up now, six months after purchase. It is psychological thing where every time you drink from the straw you might be swallowing mold. Other than that, I have been really satisfied with the straw lid. I am now looking to purchase a new lid and just so happened to run into these reviews with the same mold problem. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient drinking access to and to hold I bought this cap with my 40 ounce Hydroflask and I really like it. It makes it easy to access and drink. I can flip the nozzle up while holding it in one hand. The finger ring makes it easy to hold and transport. I did have a very small amount of leakage once from the little air valve, I had the bottle laying on its side. It was a very small amount, somewhat like condensation. It did NOT leak from the caps seal. This valve helps to let you drink by letting air into the bottle to release the pressure built up when you drink from the straw. I have not had the issue that the one reviewer mentioned. Ice stays more than 24 hours in my bottle. And I use this every day. I love my bottle. The cap is really a great accessory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't live without it! Since the HF comes with a twist off cap and not a straw lid, it does make it a little more effort to drink from. Simply purchasing the straw lid easily solved that issue. The packaging for the straw lid and the HF website states that the straw lid is not leak proof. However I did tested this theory out. I filled my HF completely to the top flip the entire HF upside down and left it there for about 10 minutes (I figured most instances you it would lay on its side instead of upside down… LOL) and surprisingly there was no water on my counter! YAY! I can even change the lid to the Hydro Lid if I want to use the HF as a coffee travel mug. That’s one of the things I also liked about the HF, is the interchangeable lids for the wide mouth HF. It makes it a versatile travel companion in my everyday life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wide mouth straw lid First of all....I'm a Hydro Flask FAN of the first order. Love the darned things and have a half dozen of em. That being said...the straw lid needs some design changes. The mouth piece gets "gummy" pretty fast. And let's face it....that's gross!!! I believe the mouth piece would benefit from being hard plastic as opposed to the soft variety. Easier to clean and would not deteriorate as quickly. If they don't want to make hard plastic, how about offering a replacement mouth piece as opposed to the whole enchilada replacement? Makes better sense environmentally speaking. Are y'all listening to user opinions?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rubber Mouth Piece = Numb Lips I have been using the Wide Mouth Straw Lid for about 6 months. After the first month of using it I had to rip off the rubber mouth piece because it seemed I was getting some kind of allergic reaction to it. My lips were getting a numb sort of feeling. Has anyone experienced this? After getting rid of the rubber part, my lips became better. Even though drinking from the weird shaped mouth piece because I removed the rubber part, I do like the convenience of the flip lid and straw feature. I just wish the sipping part of the lid was smooth. I would be happy if it was just the hard plastic. Maybe if it were round instead of rectangular too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from this mouthpiece deteriorates fast. I LOVE Hydro Flask. But I believe this mouthpiece still needs some material improvements. After about 7 months of daily use of 80% cold beverages and 20% hot ones, the rubber part of the mouth piece (the one in contact with the mouth) has deteriorated to a state of guey half/melted pieces. I have to admit the rubber part had been chewed by a 1 year old before it started to seriously fall apart, although it was in an already sorry state, it wasn't melty and sticky yet. Secondly, the straw doesn't always stay attached to the connector, multiple times I had to unscrew the lid and reconnected it pushing it well in. This isn't really a big deal, but for these top notch bottles there is still a bit of road to cover for a top notch straw mouthpiece. :)

I had small black spots that look like mold appear on the underside of the mouthpiece. I have tried washing the lid in the dishwasher, soaking it in vinegar, and scrubbing it with baking soda but it is still there. How else can I clean it?

The mouth piece on mine has started to get pretty gross. It's like the rubber part is peeling or disintegrating? Is this normal? I've already replaced once for the same reason.
